What it is:

Toekomstmakers (Futuremakers) is a project where children learn project-based and cross-curricular. Each child learns at their own speed, can develop their own talents and gains insight into their own talents and skills.

Themes and curriculum:

For a month, we work with the children around a theme. Within this theme curricular lines are drawn up. These give direction but the child then chooses what exactly will be learned within that curricular line. Each part chosen within the theme results in a product made and shaped by the student.

Who it's for:

Toekomstmakers is focused at children between the ages of 4 and 12. Children whose native language is Dutch or English can participate. The children will learn within themes in a mixed group at their own pace and according to their own needs. They will learn together about the same topics at their own level.

Portfolio and presentation:

Each step in the process of learning is tracked in a portfolio. In it the children show how they worked on a goal from beginning to end. The difficult moments and the moments that were easier for the child are discussed. Attention is paid to motor development, cognitive development, social-emotional development, language development, moral development and personal development.

At the end of each month, each student will give a presentation on the achievement around the theme. Parents and other interested parties are invited to this.

When and Where:

This project will start with us at Fair Life Ranch starting Monday, September 1. Enrollment can be for two or three days a week. Teaching days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. Learning will take place in the designated outdoor area, the covered area on the farm and in nature on our property.

Cross-curricular:

During project-based work, all subject areas are covered. Instead of fixed moments of arithmetic, writing, history and reading, the subjects come together in a natural way. In this way, each subject is covered in a playful way and the children learn the relationship of different subjects.

Learning Portuguese

We find it very important that the children learn the Portuguese language as well. Therefore, there will be a lot of attention to learning the Portuguese language. As soon as there are enough participants and it is possible to hire a native Portuguese teacher, that is what will be arranged.

citizen of the world

We value forming conscious global citizens. Students will learn during their projects that they are part of a larger world with complex problems. As they grow older, their world gets a little bigger and bigger and they learn about connectedness, shared responsibilities, cultural differences and global challenges. They learn who they want to be as global citizens and how they can use their talents for this.

Talent development

Working on your talents every day! Who wouldn't want that. Our students will work on talent development every day. This gives students the opportunity to do their best whether it is making music, painting, writing or any other skill. There will also be room to develop new talents through a varied program of activities.

coaching

Because learning takes place in small groups, there is plenty of attention for all individual children. This leaves room for the children all to be supervised according to their own needs. The children work with individual goals and are coached in the process from goal setting to goal achievement.
